JN413-1. TYPICALLY GOD: God touches drug rehabilitation centre

Often it is in the most unlikely places that the Holy Spirit ministers to people in a powerful and unexpected way. Evangelist Eric Olson from Norway visited a drug rehabilitation centre and a hospital in the Ukrainian town of Belaya Tserkov. He reports:

"As I prayed to invite the Holy Spirit, as if a thundercloud had burst open, waves of laughter began, and one by one the residents started falling out, doubling over, some off of their seats and onto the floor, others sinking and falling prostrate on the floor and even upon each other. There was then just wave after wave of joy almost as if a bunch of children were being simultaneously tickled. But for some this also became a time to shed tears. It was like an incredible force of deliverance, repentance, healing, and freedom had entered the room literally exploding full force. This went on for about 30 minutes increasing and then deceasing and increasing again, and then there just came a most incredible peace in the room. By this time, all of them including my interpreter Alex were frozen either on the floor, or bended over in their seats or upon the couch. A Holy Ghost Hurricane had hit the place."

JN413-2. PRAYER FOCUS: Buddhist beachhead in Europe

On October 11-23, 2002, the Kalachakra for World Peace will take place in Graz, Austria. Thousands of participants from over 30 nations are to be initiated into tantric teachings by the Dalai Lama XIV. The event is being supported by the Mayor of Graz and the Provincial and Federal Government in Austria. The Kalachakra tantra ritual is the key initiation rite into tantric or Tibetan Buddhism. It is a shamanistic process involving the conjuring of 722 spirits to be released over the land.

According to church leaders in Austria and Germany the Dalai Lama wants to make Graz the pillar of a bridge for Buddhism into the Western world. Buddhists prophesied that the next Dalai Lama will reincarnate in the Western world. In Graz children shall be presented to the Dalai Lama, to see if the next dalai lama is among them. According to some prayer leaders the rituals in Graz are linking into the nazi mythology that was typical for Austria during the Third Reich. Graz at that time was the main city embracing Hitler.

JN413-3. PRAYER FOCUS: Praying Through The Window 6

From 1 to 31 October millions of people across the world are praying for the 10/40 Window. This year's theme is 'Women and the Girl Child'.

The 10/40 Window is the rectangular-shaped area where the core of the unreached people of our world live. Often called 'The Resistant Belt', the window extends from West Africa to East Asia, from ten degrees north to forty degrees north of the equator. This specific region encompasses the majority of the world's Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists.

JN413-4. KINGDOM DEVELOPMENT: Worshiping God at work

In a report on faith in the workplace, The Wall Street Journal says more and more employees are seeking to worship God at work. Expressions of faith range from voluntary prayer meetings and Bible studies at company headquarters to providing a conference room for prayer.

One of the reasons for this new spirituality is the increasing number of factory closings and layoffs that have shaken many workers' faith in business, and the Enron scandal deepened the mistrust. Also there's a call for integrity and more people are interested in operating a company according to (Christian) principles.

JN413-5. RESOURCE: The Nations Called

'The Nations Called' is Dutchman Pieter Bos' theology of the nations and their redemption. The core of this excellent book is the study of God's 'Covenant with all Nations,' the beauty of nations in general and of 16 specific nations, the nine anti-covenants with which the evil one tries to block nations from covenanting to God, and the responsibility of the Church towards her nation.

The scope of the book is two-fold:
1. To help us understand and appreciate corporateness and nationhood from God's point of view, to grasp anew what it means to be a tribe or people or state.
2. To equip the church for the end-time task of the harvest of nations.

Richard Land talks with George Barna about the Mosaic generation, born from 1984 to 2002. What is their lifestyle, how do they like to spend their time, what's important to them, and how can the church be relevant for this emerging generation?

Barna: "We found that this entire generation is completely different than what we've seen in the past. They are non-linear thinkers. We saw some of this in the Buster generation, but we're finding it to be rampant throughout the Mosaic generation."
